Adaptive Service Function Chaining For Low-Latency Network Slices In Early 5G Enterprise DeploymentsID: 3849 Abstract :The Rapid Deployment Of Fifth-generation (5G) Mobile Networks Has Introduced Advanced Networking Capabilities That Support Ultra-low Latency, High Bandwidth, And Massive Device Connectivity. Enterprise Applications Such As Industrial Automation, Healthcare, Autonomous Transportation, And Smart Manufacturing Require Dedicated Network Resources With Guaranteed Quality Of Service (QoS). Network Slicing Enables The Creation Of Multiple Logical Networks Over Shared Physical Infrastructure, While Service Function Chaining (SFC) Organizes Virtual Network Functions (VNFs) Such As Firewalls, Intrusion Detection Systems, And Load Balancers Into Ordered Service Paths. However, Static Service Chaining Often Leads To Increased Latency, Inefficient Resource Utilization, And Reduced Adaptability Under Dynamic Traffic Conditions. This Paper Proposes An Adaptive Service Function Chaining (ASFC) Framework That Dynamically Reallocates VNFs Across Network Slices Using Software Defined Networking (SDN). The Proposed Architecture Continuously Monitors Network Conditions, Predicts Traffic Demand, And Reconstructs Service Chains To Minimize Latency While Maintaining Service Reliability. Experimental Evaluation Was Conducted Using Mininet, OpenDaylight SDN Controller, Open VSwitch, And Docker-based VNFs. Results Demonstrate That The Proposed Framework Reduces End-to-end Latency By Approximately 32%, Improves Throughput By 24%, Decreases Packet Loss By 35%, And Increases Resource Utilization Efficiency By 28% Compared With Conventional Static Service Chaining Methods. The Proposed Solution Offers A Scalable And Efficient Approach For Enterprise 5G Deployments Requiring Adaptive Traffic Management And Low-latency Communication. |
